Player of the Week: Michael New

Milton Keynes College’s Michael New has been named the EABL Player of the Week for Week 4 of action, for games played during the week of the 7th October 2013.

The versatile guard finished the first triple double of the 2013-14 EABL season, registering 32 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals as he helped the Trojans to a 98-29 victory over TCAT.

“I felt my overall performance throughout the game was solid,” said New. “I rebounded and defended well, but on the offensive end I could’ve done better. There were a number of opportunities I missed which would have helped me contributed more, however, our point guard Max Denham, as well as others continued to feed me the ball and trusted me to score.

“From a team standpoint, we played great. Our main source of our scoring was from our defence and creating fast breaks. Since our first loss against Charnwood, we have improved majorly, and have been eager to really show what we can do.”

New added 3 assists for good measure, finishing 14/24 from the field and 3/3 at the line.

The 6’4″ New is now averaging 28.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game on the season, helping Milton Keynes College to second place in the All Midlands Conference.
