EABL Week 6 Round Up

After a number of BCS Cup fixtures, it was a reduced slate of games in Week 6, with only two fixtures taking place, both of which were in the South East Confernece.

South East Conference

In the opening game, County Upper got past Canterbury High School 64-49, despite a season-high 32 points from Tyler Russell. County Upper’s Nick Sims got hot in the third quarter, finishing with 24 points, to help County Upper improve to 2-1 on the season.

“It was a tough game for us, but we played great both defensively and offensively plus executed the plays down the stretch,” said County Upper Head Coach Darren Johnson. “I’m happy with were we are as a team right now but still have a lot of work to do.”

The second game of the day, saw defending champions, Harris Academy Beckenham, cruise past SEEVIC 79-42.

Led by England Under-18 Kavell Bigby-Williams’ 17 point, 13 rebound double double, and a near triple double from Myles Laurent-Smart with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists, Harris’ 17-0 run in the second quarter put the game away.

Harris improved to 2-1 on the season and moved up to third place in the standings, whilst SEEVIC continue to search for their first win, at 0-5.
