Player of the Week: Luke Mascall-Wright

Copleston High School’s Luke Mascall-Wright has become the first player this season to win multiple Player of the Week awards, after being named Player of the Week for games played through the week beginning 18th November 2013.

The award, added to the Player of the Week he received a month ago, comes after he scored an EABL season-high 39 points, along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists, as Copleston rolled over Northfleet Technology College 84-72.

The performance bumped his league leading scoring average to 33.3 per game, and moved Copleston to 3-1 on the season.

“We’re looking good,” Luke said, talking of his team’s performances so far. “Last year we had a great team that did big things and this year we are hoping to do better.

“After the recruiting it took some time to gel which showed in our first couple games, but now I feel we are all on the same page and after the same goal, I think it’s going to be a good season.”

Mascall-Wright went 15/27 from the floor and 9/13 at the line, and made it the third time he has broken the 30 point barrier in Copleston’s four games.

“It’s great recognition for Luke,” said Copleston Head Coach Nick Drane. “Luke has put in the work in the weight room, and has added a solid jump shot to his game and this has really benefited him both at junior and senior level.

“He’s in that 1995 year group so has been up against some pretty good players to get a spot on the National Team, so it’s good for him to be making some noise and getting some exposure.”.
