EABL Week 2 Round Up

The second week of the 2017-18 EABL season is complete, read on to find out everything that happened.

East Conference

In the East, Barking Abbey moved to 2-0 at the top of the early standings with a comfortable 85-42 win over BHASVIC (0-2). BA jumped out to a dominant early lead and never looked back, being led by a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double from Nathaniel Powell.

Canterbury High School remained the only other undefeated team in the East, also at 2-0, following a 70-65 win over Itchen (1-1). With Itchen leading the majority of the fourth quarter, Jonathan Brown came up clutch to tie the game at 63 in the final two minutes, before Elliot Bailey, who top-scored with 21, would give the visitors the lead which they would hold on to until the final buzzer.

City of London Academy (1-1) picked up their first win of the season, taking down Copleston (0-2) 57-53 in front of a packed house in South London. CoLA were led by Patrick Lanipekun’s 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals, as they used strong inside play in the fourth to secure the win.

The final game in the East saw Oaklands College bounce back from their opening day defeat as they beat John Madejski Academy 67-65, behind a late go-ahead three from Abdulraham Wurie. Wesley Moore led Oaklands with a game-high 24 points and 3 steals.

West Conference

In the West, Loreto College climbed to the top of the table at 2-0 with a 67-60 road win over BMET James Watt College (1-1), behind a game-high 25 from Hasan Ramic.

The only other game in the West saw SGS  (1-1) record their first EABL win of the season with an impressive 75-54 away win at Derby (0-2) thanks to a dominant second half display. Behind 20 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks from AJ Edu, SGS pulled away in the third quarter to secure the win.
