Player of the Week: Elliot Bailey

Canterbury High School’s Elliot Bailey has been named the EABL Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2017-18 season.

Bailey had 21 points, going five of seven from beyond arc including the go-ahead basket in the final minutes to give Canterbury a 70-66 win over Itchen as they improved to 2-0 on the season.

“It is great to be recognised for the work I have put in, as well for my teammates,” Bailey said.

“We have a great team who want to see each other be successful, and without them I would not have won this award.”

Bailey added 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 3 blocks as he went 7 of 12 overall from the floor.

“I’m so happy for Elliot to win this,” Canterbury Head Coach Jesse Sazant said.

“The incredible work he has put in has seen him progress and develop so much. He has been huge for us so far this year in so many areas. He made key plays at both ends when we needed it Thursday.”
