EABL Week 8 Round Up

The eighth week of the 2017-18 EABL season saw seven games wrap up the year, taking place over three Wednesdays. Read on to find out what happened:

East Conference

In the East, Barking Abbey rounded out 2017 undefeated, moving to 6-0 with a 92-70 win over Canterbury High School (5-3). Pierce Maslen had 13 of his 16 points in the third quarter, where BA pulled away.

Canterbury also slipped up against City of London Academy, as CoLA (4-1) protected their home court with a 86-54 victory. Taiga Forster knocked down seven three-pointers on his way to 21 points to lead CoLA’s charge.

John Madejski Academy improved to 5-2 with a 75-65 win over Copleston (2-6) behind 23 points and 12 rebounds from Adrian Nosa Castillo. JMA registered 22 steals as they overcame a monster 19-point, 19-rebound double-double from Jonny Hall.

It was a double header week for Copleston, as they also picked up an 80-42 win over BHASVIC on Tuesday last week, led by 21 points and 17 rebounds from Jonny Hall.

Things didn’t get any better for BHASVIC (0-8), as Itchen (4-3) came out with an 84-49 win on Wednesday. Matt Hughes had 23 points and 16 rebounds, whilst Aaron Berida finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Enoch Quarcoo had 21 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

West Conference

In the West, Charnwood got back to winning ways with a 101-48 win over SGS College (2-4) to improve to 5-1 on the season. Sesan Russell led five players into double figures with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

The only other game in the West saw Derby College/Noel Baker School (4-3) getting a 76-64 win over Loreto for their fourth consecutive victory. Leighton Elliott-Sewell was dominant with 33 points and 12 rebounds, as Loreto fell to 3-3.
