Player of the Week: Ade Adebayo

Barking Abbey’s Ade Adebayo has been named the EABL Player of the Week for Week 10 of the 2017-18 season.

Adebayo helped BA pick up two more wins against tough competitions in the midst of their undefeated season, having 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in a 77-62 road win over CoLA, before following it up with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks in a 90-80 win over Canterbury.

“I think I played with an aggressiveness that I have been trying to improve on since the beginning of the season, which helped me get my points and create for my team,” Adebayo said.

“As a team we have improved a lot in terms of our chemistry and learning to play through tough times in the game; for example in the Canterbury game, which helped us come out with the win,

BA Head Coach Lloyd Gardner added:

“This is a great award for Ade who has had a tremendous season so far. I thought he showed a real aggressiveness in his play in both our EABL games last week, where he really stepped up despite being a Year 12 student. He showed a maturity to his game to be a leader, scoring when we needed him, especially off dribble penetration, causing problems for both teams trying to keep him out of the lane.

“He’s added a lot to his offensive game this season, and he’s really focusing; it’s great reward for him and his upward development.”
