Player of the Week: Daniel Penkov

Daniel Penkov has been awarded EABL Player of the Week after pacing James Watt College with 28 points in their Week 10 win over SGS College.

The 6’0″ senior guard knocked down six triples en route to his high-scoring outing, while adding an eye-catching 12 assists for the West Midlands squad.

Penkov said, “We had a great game last week against SGS on Wednesday, knowing that we needed to protect our backyard everybody did their best to help us win the game. Collectively, I think I have great teammates and coaching staff that you can rely on. I am thankful for the opportunity my coaches give me and my goal is to always make them and my family happy with what I am doing.”

James Watt Coach Steven Hansell added, “I am very happy for Daniel, he deserves this award, consistently putting in high level performances week-in, week-out. He works hard everyday and never has an excuse to not practice or play; we really can depend on him. Daniel’s ability to handle the ball, combined with his deadly shooting ability makes him a constant threat and a potent weapon for us. We believe he has a fantastic future in the game.”

“Daniel is also excelling in the classroom, as he is one of the top students in his class. As our captain, he is doing nothing more than I would expect; he is a top player and a great young man who is growing into his role as the leader of this team. I look forward to continuing to work with him everyday.”
