Player of the Week: Jeremy Sochan

Jeremy Sochan receives a well-deserved EABL Player of the Week after dropping an impressive 31 point 15 rebound double-double to go along with 3 assists and 3 steals in Week 17, driving his Itchen College side to a close victory on the road against Barking Abbey.

The win ended Barking Abbey’s unbeaten start in the EABL with an impressive 74-70 come from behind win on Wednesday afternoon. The visitors finished the game with a 28 to 17 fourth quarter, trailing by twelve at one stage in the final period. Down 63-50, Jeremy Sochan and teammate Jake Watson inspired a 15-2 run that made it 64-65 and set up a tight finish.

Sochan has this to say on his performance: “For me personally it’s an honour to be recognised as player of the week but it was a greater achievement for us as a team to take such an important win on the road. My team mates showed toughness down the stretch and trust in me and that just shows us what we are capable of moving forward.”

Head Coach Matt Guymon stated: “Firstly I am so proud of our group of guys who all contributed to get this vital win on the road. Jeremy had a fantastic individual performance, leading by example and making a number of plays at both ends of the floor. This was without question one of the most impressive performances I’ve seen from a junior in the UK at this level.”
