Player of the Week: Wakeem Richardson

James Watt’s Wakeem Richardson receives his second EABL Player of the Week award after exploding for an impressive double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds, in his side’s 94-67 win over Newcastle Eagles Academy in Week 18.

Richardson had a field day inside the arc, shooting 12-21 from the floor whilst securing the defensive boards. The 17-year-old last received the award in Week 16, when he went 14-21 from the floor for another impressive double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds.

Richardson commented on his performance saying, “I’m grateful to be the player of the week for a second time this season but credit to my teammates and coaches as they put me in a position to be successful on the court against Newcastle in a must win situation for us to be able secure third place in our league.”

Head Coach, Steven Hansell said: “Wakeem is determined to improve everyday. He is a living example of hard work paying off. His level of consistency is both impressive and important to us. He has a bright future, he’s only going to get better.”
