Player of the Week: Theo Riley

Newcastle Eagles Academy’s Theo Riley receives the Week 19 EABL Player of the Week award after dropping a huge double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with 5 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks in his side’s big win on the road against SGS College.

The match-up with SGS was a game of runs, with the lead hovering between 5 and 8 points for most of the game. However, Newcastle held on with timely scoring led by Riley’s impressive performance. The Eagles Guard stuffed the stats sheet in this one and dominated in multiple areas, demonstrating his ability play at a high level on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

Eagles Head Coach Ian Macleod said, “It was a good win for us, and it came from a lot of hard work. We were a little short handed with three key players out, and the guys stepped up none more so than Theo. He showed great leadership and contributed to every phase of the game. An all-around performance which shows what he is capable of.”

Theo Riley commented on his performance saying, “We came out aggressive with high energy , and that set the tone for the game. I just tried to make sure I did everything I could to secure the win and help my team mates. We have two games left and we need to ensure we finish the season strongly.”
