Week 6 Preview – EABL

With the majority of schools up and down the country now off for half term, there’s not a lot of EABL action to choose from in week 6. One game does survive the break though, so let’s take a look at it below.

Charnwood College (1-1) v The Sheffield College (1-3)

Defending EABL champions Charnwood lost their first game since the 2017/18 season as they fell to Myerscough 105 – 93 last week. In a tight contest between two power houses in the Northern Conference, an early defeat will give the Riders plenty to ponder ahead of a rematch in mid-January.

After an opening day win, Sheffield have experienced one way traffic as losses to Derby, Myerscough and most recent SGS have left the Yorkshire programme with a 1 – 3 record. As the only side to finish below Sheffield in last year’s standing, defeat to SGS will understandably have dented the confidence of Coach Connor’s team, especially after starting their campaign with a victory over Newcastle.

Blaize Sagna continues to be a focal point for Charnwood on offence, averaging 18.0ppg on the young season. For Sheffield, the main brunt of the offensive work lies with 6’3″ guard Tom Morey. Averaging 19.8ppg, Morey takes nearly 18 shots per contest for Sheffield, with only two of his team mates making it into double digits. If he can get hot, he’s sure to put up plenty of points tomorrow.

2018/19 result – Charnwood College 109 – 56 The Sheffield College
