Game Day Recap – Week 9

Week 9 included seven fixtures across the EABL, with four in the Southern Conference and three in the North. Leaders Myerscough and Barking were both enjoying a break in their schedule, giving the chasing pack a chance to make up some ground.

In a big game at the top of the Southern Conference, Copleston made it two wins out of two since the return of Ethan Price as they beat Canterbury Academy 76-57. Price scored 20 as Jacob Morgan added 21 more, with Robbie Graham and Chester Morrell leading the way for Canterbury with 17 and 16 points respectively.

John Madejski Academy grabbed a share of the Conference lead as the Rockets beat BHASVIC 119-75, moving to 6-0 in the process. BHASVIC’s Josh Last top scored in the game with 28, but it would be in vain for the visitors as Jacob Taitte enjoyed 23 for JMA.

21 points from Jude Law and 16 more from Tyreese Garrod helped push City of London Academy past USP College 81-50. Joe Dunbar top scored with 18 for the visitors in that one.

There was a first win of the season for Itchen as they defeated Oaklands College 80-62. Tyreese Hudson had 17 for Coach Guymon’s side, with Toby Gastaldi-Davies once again starring for Oaklands, he had 16.

In the North, Charnwood continued their quest to catch Myerscough with a comfortable 91-66 road win over SGS College. Blaize Sagna and Greg Wild led the Riders with 21 points apiece, as Marvin Dinnall scored 16 for SGS.

Despite trailing by three with 2 minutes remaining, Derby Trailblazers Academy used a late 10-0 run to pull out a 92-85 win over Manchester Magic Academy. The victory takes Derby back to 2-2, with Manchester dropping below .500 at 2-3.

Finally, there was a lopsided result in the West Midlands as James Watt College beat Newcastle Eagles Academy 120-38.

We’ll have our full reports on all those games tomorrow afternoon.
