Week 11 Preview – Southern Conference

All but one team feature in week 11 of the Southern Conference, including first against third and seventh versus eighth. 

John Madejski Academy (6-1) v The Canterbury Academy (4-2)

Second-placed John Madejski Academy host The Canterbury Academy in what promises to be an exciting game in week 11.

The Rockets recently suffered a 73-59 defeat to Barking in week 10, with Asher Ndah scoring 12 in the loss.

The Canterbury Academy last featured in week 9, falling short 76-57 to Copleston. Standing at 6’2”, Guard Chester Morrell is scoring 14.3 points on average and is one to look out for. 

Oaklands College (1-5) v BHASVIC (1-5)

It’s a battle of seventh and eighth when BHASVIC travel to Oaklands respectively, with both sides searching for their second win of the season. 

The hosts secured their first win of the season in week 10, defeating USP College 84-69, inspired by Finley D’Avilar’s 19 points performance, whilst teammate Toby Gastaldi-Davies added 16 more. 

BHASVIC suffered a 95-76 defeat last week against City of London Academy and will be looking to bounce back, with Josh Last scoring a game-high of 25 points and he will be hoping to inspire his sit to victory.

Barking Abbey (7-0) v City of London Academy (5-2)

City of London have the tough challenge of travelling to table toppers Barking Abbey, who remain the only undefeated side in the Southern Conference.

CoLA secured their fifth win in a row against BHASVIC, and remain in third spot with 15 points. Oscar Leigh-Hales continues to lead the way for his side, with an average of 13.8 points per game, the highest in his team.

Barking lead at the top by three points over next best Rockets, and are yet to lose a game this season.

Last week, they defeated JMA 73-59, Veron Eze scoring 17 points. The 6’5” forward also leads the way with a team-high of 18.8 points per game. 

USP College (0-7) v Itchen College (5-1)

At the foot of the table, USP College will search for their first win of the season as they host Itchen College, who sit sixth in the ladder.

Itchen were recently defeated by Copleston, who are the only team not featuring in week 11. Taiga Forster scoring on average 14.7 ppg for the visitors.

Despite their defeat in week 10, USP College’s Adedemilola Adeyeye topped the scoring with 21 and has on average 15.6 ppg, whilst teammate Joe Dunbar is close behind with 15.2 ppg.
