Game Day Recap – Week 13

With the mid-season break fast approaching, a number of teams took the opportunity to grab much needed points and plenty of momentum from week 13’s games.

Northern leaders Myerscough secured a predictably dominant 125-45 win over Newcastle Eagles Academy to keep their perfect record intact. The victory moves Myerscough to 9-0, with just one more game to navigate to finish 2019 unbeaten. That contest is on the road in Derby though, so it’ll be a tough test for coach Hopkins’ side.

35 points for the ever-impressive Blake Bowman helped Derby Trailblazers Academy to an 87-66 win against The Sheffield College. Home court advantage counted for little as the South Yorkshire side had no answer for Bowman, dropping them to 2-7 in the process.

Hosts SGS College lost a tough one to James Watt College, with a final score of 73-70. Marvin Dinnall’s 21 points for SGS were impressive, though JWC’s Ian Rodriguez stole the show to finish with 33.

In the pick of the games from the Southern Conference, Copleston High School emerged triumphant in a low scoring contest against John Madejski Academy, winning 62-54. Ethan Price was once again the leader for Copleston, recording a huge 27 points, 16 rebounds and 8 blocks in a performance that is sure to put the forward firmly in the EABL Player of the Week discussion.

Robbie Graham and Will Raife combined for 43 points as Canterbury made short work of Oaklands College, coming out on top 109-63. The victory improves Canterbury’s record to 6-3 as the Kent programme look to be regaining some of the form that helped them begin the year 4-0.

BHASVIC claimed their 2nd win of the season, doing the double over USP College following a 99-68 win. Josh Last continued his good form to record 24 points for the hosts, with Isreal Bello top scoring for USP on 20.

We’ll have full reports of all those games tomorrow afternoon.
