Game Day Recap – Week 19

Eight games make up a busy week 19 as teams are working hard across the EABL to complete their schedules. Six games took place this afternoon in addition to John Madejski Academy’s 115-69 win over Oaklands on Monday and Canterbury’s trip to the Wolves tomorrow night.

Beginning our recap in the Northern Conference, James Watt College took a big step towards securing a post season spot as they beat fellow playoff hopefuls Derby Trailblazers Academy 87-75. The win gives JWC the head-to-head between the teams, as Ian Rodriguez top scored for the hosts with 25 points.

Charnwood continued Newcastle’s winless streak with a 109-53 final score in the North East. The Riders are already confirmed as the Conference’s #2 seed, and Newcastle entertain Derby next week to close what has been a difficult season.

In the Southern Conference, Ben Winter enjoyed his final regular season game for Copleston, scoring 38 points in a 102-79 win over playoff chasing Itchen. The defeat now means that Itchen will likely need to beat Southern Conference leaders Barking if they’re to keep alive their hopes of reaching the post season.

City of London Academy won their penultimate game of the season as they handled BHASVIC 100-65. Christian Adun (14 points), Wilfrid Santhe (13 points) and Kavell Hawes (10 point) all played well for the hosts, with Josh Last top scoring for BHASVIC on 12.

Finally, Oaklands claimed their 2nd win of the season, doing the double over USP College with a 70-58 final score. Toby Gastaldi-Davies led the way for Oaklands with a game high 24 points in that one as the Wolves move to 2-11 on the year.

The score in the Northern Conference between Manchester and Sheffield wasn’t available at the time of writing.

We’ll have full reports from all today’s games tomorrow afternoon.
