Summer Showcase – week 4 preview
- By EABL Staff
- Updated: May 25, 2021

There’s one more slate of fixtures for EABL fans to enjoy this week before a short break in this year’s Summer Showcase.
Teams will take a breather to start next month, with competition resuming once half-term is out of the way.
There’s still five games to enjoy in week four though, with another bubble tournament this weekend from Oaklands College.
Results and top scorers from previous weeks can be seen on the score ticker at the top of this page.
North Pool
The Sheffield College v James Watt College-BMet
2-1 plays 2-0 as Sheffield welcome James Watt tomorrow at Hillsborough Campus.
Both these sides have been in fine form during the EABL Summer Showcase, with JWC’s Josh Ijeh already collecting Player of the Week honours and Sheffield’s Jamie McGrail earning a Team of the Week spot.
Hensy Sako poured in 28 points last time out in a win over Manchester and will also be a threat for the Yorkshire programme, whilst Sam Cheshire’s 21 points helped James Watt past Derby in week three.

Derby College Trailblazers v Myerscough College
Myerscough head to the Midlands tomorrow for a date with the Trailblazers.
Looking to bounce back from a 69-67 loss to James Watt, Derby will look to Mandre Costa (16.5PPG) and Carl Alexander (team-high 16 points last week) to turn things around.
Despite a lengthy layoff, Myerscough don’t appear to have missed a beat and have looked dominant in their two wins so far.
Zeki Cavli led the way last weekend against Charnwood with 17 points, though ‘Sco have plenty of offensive options across their roster.

Manchester Magic Academy v SGS College
The final of three Northern games this week, SGS head to Manchester to take on the Magic.
Taking last week off following an 0-2 start, the Bristol programme will be hoping for a better performance here following losses to Sheffield and James Watt.
Manchester have had struggles of their own, falling to 0-3 so far. Elgin Govan’s 32 points last week against Sheffield couldn’t push the Magic to a W, but it was an impressive performance from the young Scot as he was locked in from long range.

South Pool
Itchen College v Oaklands College
Itchen play Oaklands as these two sides get Saturday’s bubble event underway.
With Itchen unbeaten (1-0) and Oaklands without a win (0-3), both teams enter this one with differing fortunes but that shouldn’t stand in the way of what should be an exciting game.
Kane Daley averages 17.3PPG for the Wolves and top scored in the 79-78 defeat by Copleston last time out, and Nick Powdrell has also enjoyed some good form.
Itchen were led by 11 points from Steve Nwagwu in their only showing to date, though they have quality on their roster and will look to build momentum from here.

City of London Academy v The Canterbury Academy
Week four closes with a clash in Oaklands between CoLA and Canterbury.
The Kent side are the latest to enjoy the Toibu Lawal show, with the London youngster enjoying some highlight plays so far this Showcase.
Canterbury haven’t played since a week one victory over Copleston, where as CoLA are 1-2 and have played in all three game weeks.
Will Raife’s 29 points were a standout for Canterbury that day, he’ll be hoping to keep on rolling with more of the same.
