EABL Recap – 13 October

The EABL is back up and running once again, with two weeks already in the books.

Some teams have started the season well, others have stumbled, but every team still has plenty to play for at this early stage.

Here’s a quick recap of all the action from this past Wednesday, and each score is clickable to access the top scorers/box score where available.

John Madejski Academy 75-65 Itchen College

JMA began their season with a win thanks to an impressive 34 points from Isaac Round.

The impressive ’04 born guard was in top form to lead all scorers, with Kivuvu Live adding 20 more.

La Casinallo’s 14 points led the way for Itchen, who now move back to 1-1.

City of London Academy 57-72 Oaklands College

CoLA notched a second straight loss to begin the year as they came up short against Oaklands, going down 72-57.

Kane Daley (19pts) and Ollie Wright (18pts) did the damage for the visitors, with the London programme receiving 18 points from Di-Jani Parkinson.

Oaklands can be pleased with the start to their campaign, enjoying two wins from two after a victory against Copleston last time out.

Copleston High School 66-62 The Canterbury Academy

Copleston claimed a tight contest against Canterbury, eking out a narrow 66-62 W.

Joe Pulic led all scorers for the hosts with 22 points to go with nine rebounds and was the standout in an even contest.

Max Bignell top scored for the visitors with 18 points, though he was the only Canterbury player who made it to double digit scoring.

Myerscough College 101-54 SGS College

Myerscough used a 22-12 opening quarter to blow out SGS College, winning 101-54.

Shooting 48.8% from the field, Myerscough were led by a 27 point effort from Bryan Akanmu. The talented forward converted an impressive 13/16 shooting, adding seven boards, four assists and a steal to his final stat line.

Sam Cheshire (17pts) and Euan Birch (11pts) played well in support, Louie West top scored for SGS with 17.

Charnwood College Riders 116-36 Newcastle Eagles Academy

There was a one-sided contest in the Midlands as Charnwood easily saw off Newcastle 116-36.

This one was over nearly as soon as it had begun, with Victor Ndoukou’s 32 points helping the Riders to clear the century mark.

No Eagles made it to double digits, though Leo LaPerrier came close. He finished with nine.

Manchester Magic Academy 68-70 The Sheffield College

Mahamud Ibrahim was the hero for Sheffield as the Yorkshire moved to 2-0 following a tight 70-68 win over cross-Pennine rivals Manchester.

Ibrahim was everywhere to finish with a 23 point, 15 rebound double-double, adding four assists for good measure.

Tom Mayor top scored for Magic with 13 points, as Sam Lolenga added 12 more.
