EABL Player of the Week – 1 December 2021

It’s that time of the week again as we highlight another standout performance in the EABL for the spotlight treatment.

Sometimes the Player of the Week accolade is a close run thing, and there are multiple stats and factors to consider when trying to decide who should win between a number of quality performances.

This was not one of those weeks.

A player produced video game numbers that made for one of the easiest POTW decisions in recent memory, and that man is James Watt’s Josh Ijeh.

As JWC stayed perfect on the season after a 103-72 victory against SGS College, Ijeh was filling the stat sheet to the tune of 38 points, 37 rebounds and five assists.

His 71 efficiency rating is one of the highest in league history, leaving no doubt that the young forward’s efforts in week 8 will live long in the memory.

Speaking about his performance, Ijeh said: “I am honoured to be awarded with my second Player of the Week award of this season, it would not be possible without the help of my coaching staff and my teammates finding me when I was open.

“I’m glad my team could move up to 3-0 this season and I’ll be working hard to make sure we get a top spot. #NoExcuses”

Head coach Steven Hansell added: “Josh enjoyed a dominant performance again last week with a huge contribution for the team. He was relentless on both ends of the court, determined to maximise every possession.

“Josh is taking his game to the next level this season, I’m enjoying his progress. He’s striving to improve everyday to be the best player he can be. Fantastic!”
