EABL recap – 12 October

It was a busy week of EABL action as seven entertaining contests took place in the second week of the season.

We round up the action below.

Myerscough College 77-84 SGS College

Myerscough were unable to build on their impressive opening win over Manchester Magic last week as they fell to a home defeat to SGS who started their 2022/23 with a win.

Louie Tucker (29 points) and Jayden Edwards (24) began their first games of the season in impressive fashion for the away side, while Myerscough’s Denilson Caschilli (22) posted double figures for the second week running.

BMet 66-78 Derby College Trailblazers

Derby came out on top on the road to BMet as both sides got their respective seasons underway.

The home side’s Miles Moore (24) top-scored and Derby’s Chris Yapo (16), Armandas Ilijinas (14) Joe Webster and Genti Cokaj (10) helped get Trailblazers’ season off to the best possible start.

Charnwood College Riders 75-61 Newcastle Eagles Academy

Newcastle are 0-2 after suffering a tough loss on the road to Charnwood.

Joe Sheeran impressed for Eagles (21) but was to be outdone by strong showings from Daniel Hadley (25) and Lamarana Diallo (23) as Riders got their season started in style.

The Manchester Magic Academy 104-71 The Sheffield College

Magic bounced back from their heavy opening defeat to Myerscough as they saw off Sheffield in emphatic fashion.

Dec Kom (28) built on his impressive opening week performance with another big haul but was to be outdone on this occasion by Magic’s
Matthew Goodwin (37), while teammate Ben Brown (25) also went big in the points charts.

John Madejski Academy 88-109 Itchen College

Itchen are 2-0 for the new season following another big win, this time on the road to JMA.

Tyler Fairbairn (36) did the damage with a huge performance, while
Ashley Kitchen (23) top-scored for the hosts.

City of London Academy – Southwark 78-58 Oaklands College

CoLA are up and running in their campaign as they sealed a home win at the expense of Oaklands.

Ben Csernak (20) delivered for his side on their way to a first W of the season, while Tallas Zacharias (14) top-scored for Oaklands.

Copleston High School 51-57 The Canterbury Academy

Canterbury edged a six-point game on the road to Copleston to open their season with a win.

Finlay Rennie (19) and Timothy Obuh (16) proved the difference for the visitors as they compounded Copleston to another narrow defeat.
