EABL 2022/23 half-term recap – title chasers & individual stats leaders

There have been statements of intent from Barking Abbey and SGS College across the opening half of the EABL season.

As teams wrap up for Christmas, we take a look at the campaign so far and who is shining on the individual stats leaderboards – for the full lists see the link at foot of the article.

Southern Conference

Barking Abbey are the owners of the only unbeaten record in the South with their 4-0 run putting them top of the pile going into the Christmas break.

They have also played the fewest games of any team in the Conference so can hold onto their position if they can keep going in the same vein.

Rivals Itchen and CoLA are both on the same 12-point total as Barking but have lost twice each already.

Barking have been steered by Cholevinskas Nedas (16.6EFF) and Juskveicius Ignas (16.3EFF), who are both in the top 10 most efficient players in the league.

Itchen’s sharpshooting from long-range is helping keep them in touch, with teammates Zak Missouri (50%) and Lucas Scotland (46.1%) numbers one and two respectively on the three-point shooting percentage leaderboard for the whole league.

Northern Conference

SGS are flying in the North with a 6-0 record going into the break.

Much of that is down to impressive form of Louie Tucker (pictured top). The 6ft 4ins guard has been one of the standout players of the season, topping the points (30.3PPG) and efficiency (29.2) leaderboards for the league, as well as shooting the trey ball at an impressive percentage (40.7%) for fifth spot in that category.

Of the chasing pack, Myerscough are doing their best to stay in touch with their 5-2 record putting them in second spot.

Peter Asante’s 17.5 makes him the fourth most efficient player this season.

Behind them, Derby are 4-2 while reigning champions Charnwood will be looking to make a late surge from fourth.

Owners of a 4-0 record, the Riders are the only other unbeaten team in the North and they have games in hand over all the sides above them.

Lamarana Diallo is averaging 18.3 PPG at 17.3EFF for the Midlands’ programme, good enough to put him the top 10 in the league in both statistical categories.
