EABL Player of the Week – 7 December 2022

With just one week of games remaining in 2022, there’s still time to fit in another EABL Player of the Week award.

With four games on the schedule and plenty of worthy candidates, in the end it was The Sheffield College’s Jason Holder who got the nod as this week’s winner.

Helping his side to a 94-63 victory against Newcastle Eagles University, Holder shot an efficient 8/12 to close with 20 points in just 23 minutes of action.

His +/- of 31 showed his significant impact on the match, adding 11 rebounds, two assists, a block and an impressive six steals to an great afternoon’s work.

After winning the award, Holder said: “It’s an honour to be selected as the EABL Player of the Week, however this was a team effort and couldn’t have been done without them.

“This game has allowed us to gain our feet again and play the way Sheffield is known for playing, by applying pressure and getting out in transition.

“Hopefully we can take that win to end the first half of the season and bring the same aggression and intensity into the second half of the year.”

Sheffield head coach Brad Connor added: “I’m delighted that Jason has been recognised with this award.

“It was a great overall display, showing what he’s capable of on both offence and defence. He had some outstanding performances in Europe and it’s great to see him now putting in strong performances in the EABL.

“He’s been working hard in training and will be an important player for us in the second half of the season.”
