Alec Reed Academy vs Barking Abbey School

Barking Abbey School continued their undefeated start to the EABL Southern Conference campaign with a 82-98 away win against Alec Reed Academy.

The first quarter saw both teams trading baskets, as the hosts took a five point lead halfway though the period. Barking cut the lead, but Alec Reed held a slim one point advantage at the end of first quarter.

The second period saw the visitors move things up a gear as they pulled away to safe 15 point lead at the break.

Alec Reed battled throughout the second half, but failed to get the deficit back below 10 points, as Barking Abbey secured the win.

Alec Reed Coach Daniel Szatkowski said, “We knew this would be a tough match up, but I’m proud of my boys of fighting to the end. We must improve our defence to get back to winning ways; we will definitely learn from this game and come back stronger.”

Dovydas Golovcenko led the home team with 21 points, while Barking were paced by Chris Feeney who knocked down seven triples en route to a game-high 27 points.

Alec Reed will look to bounce back next week at home against Copleston High School, while Barking travel to SEEVIC College.
