Alec Reed Academy vs City of London Academy

Alec Reed Academy continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 69-58 win over City of London Academy in a rare Tuesday night EABL Southern Conference match-up.

Both teams started game slowly and struggled to find ways to score. At the end of first period, the game was tied 13-13. Alec Reed came out in the second quarter and moved things up a gear, led by Mo Adan and Dovydas Golovcenko to take 39-29 lead into the half-time break.

The West London hosts came out slow to begin the third quarter, which saw CoLA take a three point lead halfway through the period. However, Alec Reed were able to bounce back and reclaim a narrow five point lead heading into the final stanza.

The final ten minutes saw Alec Reed execute on offence in crucial moments of the game, sealing a 69-58 win.

Alec Reed Coach Daniel Szatkowski said, “It was one of these games where shots didn’t go in and offences didn’t run as we wanted them to – but my team showed big heart and passion to play great defence against a well-coached CoLA team. This result is a great boost for us before we fly out tomorrow to Hungary for our European Youth Basketball League tournament.”

Mo Adan led all scorers with 18 points for Alec Reed, supported by Dovydas Golovcenko who added 14 and while Webster had 12. The visitors were paced by 11 points from Taiga Forster in the loss.

Alec Reed will travel to Itchen College next week, while CoLA will look to bounce back as they host Copleston High School.
