Allerton City of Leeds vs Loreto College

Loreto College pulled out an 84-60 win over Allerton City of Leeds on the road on Wednesday afternoon.

Michael Anumba for Loreto would have a game high 21 points in their victory, they also had help from Wesley Oba who would add 13 points and Arinze Emeka-Anyakwo who had 11 points.

Malcom Warner and Aldridge would both finish the game for Allerton with 17 points each and Harr Resendez would add 15.

Allerton (0-4) were still looking to get their first win this year in the EABL heading into the game, whereas Loreto are going into the game (2-2) and looking to get their third win in the the EABL and also coming off a cup win against Gateshead.

From the offset, Loreto wouldn’t hold back on the young Allerton team as they put up 31 points in the first quarter to Allerton’s 12. Loreto proved deadly on the fast break and shot well from behind the three point line.

The second quarter would see Allerton step up on defence and hold Loreto to scoring 16 points before going into the half. Allerton would have to step it up offensively as they were only able to score 12 points again in the second. Allerton would go into the half down by 23 and would come back looking for a response from captain and senior Jake Aldridge.

Allerton would have to step up if they were to come back from this but they couldn’t convert on the offensive end and Loreto were taking advantage of that by running the floor and getting easy transition buckets.

Going into the fourth and final quarter a spirited Allerton team were still striving to reduce the deficit, they would end up outscoring Loreto 19-17 in the final period.

Final score would be 60-84 in favour of Loreto. They would travel back home with the win and the young Allerton squad would take it as a learning curve and move onto the next 40 minutes of basketball.

Allerton face SGS next and Loreto will take on Derby college.
