Allerton City of Leeds vs SGS College

SGS College would come out on top with an 83-60 win over Allerton City of Leeds on Wednesday.

The Bristol side were led by Ebuka Ekwegh’s 27, whilst AJ Edu had 14 and Jamal Parsons-Powell 13. Harry Resendez led Allerton with 22 as their only player in double figures, whilst Jake Aldridge had 9.

Allerton Head Coach Matt Newby commented:

“We lacked depth today but credit to Bristol they were solid throughout and really dominated the second quarter. I thought we showed spirit throughout and improved once more today.”

The tempo was high from the outset with Allerton the aggressor; a quick five points from PG and Captain Jake Aldridge would spark a lighting fast first 4 minutes with both teams applying pressure and capitalising.

With Leeds’ small forwards Will Gilroy and Haben Malcolm Warner absent through injury and illness, the Leeds unit would see Leslie Engbison and Bailey England try an manage the physicality of AJ Edu and Ekwegh who would draw early fouls on the interior.

The quarter would end with the teams split by 4 points.

The second quarter would see SGS being relentless, taking the period 29-15 and blowing the game open, with coaches Coles and Kapoulas getting the very best out of their charges and racking up possessions.

Exposed on the interior, with foul trouble affecting rotationally who Leeds could put in the mix, the second chance opportunities and interior mismatches would pay dividends for the SGS pivot and forwards.

The third and fourth quarters remained balanced with Leeds at one point early in the fourth cutting the deficit to 12 points, Bristol responded to this push with class and would leave Leeds with a 83-60 win.

Edu and Ekwegh dominated the statistics with a double double each.
