Barking Abbey 101 v 43 USP College

Barking Abbey won their third game of the EABL season with a convincing 101-43 home win against USP.

Barking started quickly with Edrick Okunola hitting the first 5 points of the game. USP would respond behind the talented Demi Adeyeye who would hit back-to-back layups. BA would then look inside to big men Theo Hughes, Chima Obikwelu & Emmanuel Kanwei who would combine for 13 first quarter points, leaving the hosts up 25 – 8 after the first.

The second quarter did not start well for Barking with USP scoring the first 5 points after an Adeyeye three. Barking would respond behind strong defensive displays from Oliver Malungo and Sam Adajiki who would run in open layups. USP continued to compete in the second quarter but Barking would take a 23 point lead into the half, 45 – 22.

Barking once again looked to play through inside threats Theo Hughes and Chima Obikwele and now Hayden Ling in the third quarter. That opened up the game more for the perimeter players who started to knock down open shots with Edick Okunola once again shooting the ball well.

In both the third and fourth quarter Barking would score 28 points both quarters to take their score over three figures and run out convincing winners 101-43.

Barking head coach James Vear commented on the win: “I thought we played well second half. First half we had a few defensive breakdown and didn’t share the ball particularly well, we made up for that second half”

Top scorers for BA were Edrick Okunula on 17, Theo Hughes on 13 and Flynn Boardman Raffet with 11. USP were led by Demi Adeyeye on 17 as Kobbi Banks added 9.

Barking head to the South coast next week to face BHASVIC as USP host Canterbury Academy.
