Barking Abbey vs Copleston Sixth Form
- Updated: March 7, 2017
Barking Abbey finished the EABL regular season with a 67-52 win over Copleston Sixth Form to keep their perfect record intact on Wednesday afternoon.
With Copleston without key pieces Caleb Fuller and Rory Winter, it was always going to be a challenge for the Suffolk based side, who put in an impressive shift, keeping the game close before BA pulled away for good in the fourth quarter.
Josh Apple carried the load at times for Copleston, finishing with a game-high 19 points, whilst big man Jonny Hall joined him in double figures with 12.
Jubrile Belo led BA with 15, whilst Daniel Delgado had 13 and Andre Lavinier 7 – including a big three in the third quarter to provide a cushion after a Copleston run saw them get within four.
In the final period, BA’s lead extended to 20 as they started converting from beyond the arc with Jonathan St Hilaire and Pierce Maslen converting.
“The guys came in a little short on confidence after a loss at the weekend in the NBL,” said BA Head Coach James Vear.
“I think it took us time to get some of that back. We played really well defensively, especially in the second half and did a much better job on Josh apple who hurt us through the first two periods.”
BA finish the regular season at 14-0 as the number 1 seed in the East and will now turn their attention to the playoffs, whilst Copleston just fell short of the post-season in fifth place.
