Barking Abbey vs Oaklands College
- Updated: January 31, 2017
Barking Abbey moved to 11-0 in the EABL this season with a comfortable 72-38 win over Oaklands College on Wednesday afternoon.
Abbey jumped out to a 19-2 lead to open the game and appeared firmly in control before Oaklands responded with a run of their own in the second period, led by Isaia Alexis who scored all 8 of his point in the quarter.
BA were forced into calling a timeout, and from there the home side regrouped, cruising in the second half whilst rotating players on their way to getting a firmer stranglehold on the number 1 seed in the East.
“The first half was a bit scrappy,” BA Head Coach James Vear said. “Oaklands did a good job of slowing us down. Second half, we broke it open a bit more and it ended up being a comfortable win.”
Amin Adamu led BA with 19 points, whilst Jubrile Belo joined him in double figures with 10 and Tom Child added 7.
Oaklands were led by 8 points-a-piece from Isaia Alexis, Mark James and Kyle Dennis-Nelson.
BA return to action on February 22 when they face City of London Academy away, whilst Oaklands take on JMA at home on the same date.
