BHASVIC 76 – 95 City of London Academy

BHASVIC welcomed City of London Academy, going in search of their second win of the season but it was the visitors who took the victory 95-76.

A low scoring first quarter saw BHASVIC lead 18-15 after a 12-4 run to end the frame. In the second quarter, COLA came out with a strong full court pressure which stunned BHASVIC as COLA went a 17-1 run. The hosts replied quickly by going on a 18-11 run of their own mid-way through the quarter as they finished strongly keeping the contest tight 43-41.

Coming out of halftime, COLA continued to pile on the same full court pressure as BHASVIC came out of the gate slow. COLA went on a 19-4 run which saw their lead balloon to 17 points.

The final quarter was another tight contest as BHASVIC tried to reduce their deficit, however COLA managed to keep the pressure on, winning the last quarter 23-21.

After the game, BHASVIC Coach James Quinto said “Fair play to COLA, they kept the pressure on throughout the match and forced us to make bad decisions but bottom line is we have to be better in those situations as that’s ultimately where the game is won and lost.

“There were lots of positive signs, but we really have to be over critical when we go back to the drawing board and make sure we correct things that will bring us closer to that next win.”

BHASVIC were led by their guard Josh Last who had another good outing with 25 points and first year wing Jarvis Chater who had 18 points. Meanwhile the visitors were led by Kavell Hawes with 22 points and Christian Adun with 15 points.

Next week, BHASVIC travel up to play Oaklands College while COLA travel to face undefeated Barking Abbey.
