BHASVIC v John Madejski Academy

JMA raced to a 10-2 lead to start the game, leading to an early BHASVIC timeout to break the run. The first quarter ended 19-7 with JMA leading, however BHASVIC put on a resilient effort on both ends only to trail 37-20 going into the half.

The home side started the third quarter strong, which forced Coach Keane to take a timeout when the score was 26-41. This timeout would spur JMA to go on a run behind the efforts of their defence as they ended the 3rd quarter with a massive 59-34 lead. They carried that run on throughout the fourth quarter as BHASVIC could not find a run of their own.

BHASVIC Coach James Quinto said, “I thought we started the game slow and we couldn’t get into our offence early, however we picked the pace up a little bit just before halftime. We have to be ready from the get go in order to avoid playing catch up, especially against a great side like JMA. I’m proud of the guys for staying together and being positive to one another throughout the game, and it’s a learning curve for us especially being possibly the youngest team in league with 8 first years.”

“We have a busy week in front of us, so we’re going to regroup ASAP and look at the things we need to fix in order for us to catch that win in the remaining games of the season.”

The visitors’ duo David Chive and Adrian Nosa-Castillo both had 15 points apiece, leading the way for JMA. BHASVIC were paced by Lewis Jee who had 14 points, and Josh Last who had 7.

Next week BHASVIC welcome Oaklands College on the Monday and then Barking Abbey on the Wednesday while JMA play SEEVIC.
