BHASVIC vs Alec Reed Academy

BHASVIC hosted EABL newcomers Alec Reed Academy hoping to bounce back from last week. The reigning ABL national champions took the game and ran away with it 55-78.

A great start from BHASVIC saw them leading in the early minutes of the game. They started the second quarter in similar fashion where they had an 8-0 run, which saw them down only 24-22 just past midway through the quarter. However, an 11-1 run from Alec Reed towards the end of the quarter, BHASVIC found themselves down 34-23.

The second half started with the same energy from BHASVIC where they pulled the game back within reach 34-29 until Alec Reed went on a 20-4 run. They didn’t look back from then on however BHASVIC put on a resilient effort to cut the lead down in the fourth, winning the quarter 18-13.

BHASVIC Coach James Quinto said, “First I would like to say great job to the boys this week. It was a tough week for us last week and we went back to the drawing board after that tough loss from Itchen. Today we showed that last week’s result was an anomaly, we showed today that we can compete, and we showed a lot improvement which we’ve been working on this past week.”

Coach Quinto added, “I would like say well done to Alec Reed. They played a scrappy game and they were a physically tough team in all areas of the floor and I believe they are a team to watch out for in the EABL this season. This was a good test for us today and we proved to ourselves that we making steps in the right direction which will hopefully lead to even better games and hopefully get that win we rightly deserve.”

BHASVIC were led by Ben Curran who had 17 points with Josh Last having 10 points and Ben Hayward with 8 points off the bench. Meanwhile, Alec Reed were led by Guled Abokhar who had 25 points, with Kevinas Kolesnikovas chipping in with 9 points and Elias Doorman had 8 points.

Next week BHASVIC will travel to Ipswich to play Copleston while Alec Reed will get a visit from another EABL newcomer, SEEVIC College.
