BHASVIC vs Barking Abbey School

BHASVIC played their second game of the week as they welcomed top of the league opposition Barking Abbey. The visitors had a big third quarter run as they ran away with the game 99-40.

The home side started strong and composed with an 8-2 run by the visitors which saw them leading at the end of the quarter 20-12. The start of the second was a similar story, as BHASVIC tried to stay within touching distance at 24-17 but a 24-8 run from Barking saw them stretch the lead to 51-25 at the half. In the second half, the visitors piled on more pressure as they stepped up their defense, while BHASVIC’s fatigue started to show as they struggled on the offensive end. This allowed Barking to go on a 19-0 run in the third quarter and a 13-2 run early in the fourth.

I thought the first half we showed glimpses of the quality in our side. Although it was a tough game/result, I thoroughly enjoyed today’s game as the boys made sure we executed the things we wanted to do on both ends. I have to give credit to Barking as they kept their foot on the gas the whole game, which I believed challenged us and made us an even better team moving forward,” said BHASVIC’s Coach James Quinto.

Hopefully we can take this momentum through the half-term and build on this for the remaining games left in the season. We look to close our season strongly and we are sure to build in the coming weeks.”

BHASVIC’s scoring came from their returners with Alfie Preece having a game-high 12 points, Michael Merritt with 8 points and Josh Last had 7 points. The trio of Barking led the scoring, with Jonathan St Hilaire having 17 points, Jonathan Brown with 16 points and Ade Adebayo with 15 points.

After the half term BHASVIC travels to Seevic College as both teams are in search of their first win, while Barking Abbey welcome Alec Reed.
