BHASVIC vs City of London Academy

As the EABL season got underway, City of London Academy (CoLA) travelled to the south coast to face BHASVIC College who they defeated 45-78 to start their season on a positive note.

A nervous start from BHASVIC saw them down 5-17 early, as CoLA applied constant full court pressure. The end of the first saw CoLA top BHASVIC 9-26.

The start of the second quarter saw BHASVIC apply pressure of their own, which saw them crawl back within the first 3 minutes to cut the lead down 18-32. However, constant pressure lead to more unnecessary turnovers from the home team which saw the visitors up at half time 24-47.

The start of the second half was positive from BHASVIC, but the consistency at both ends of the court wasn’t enough to get them back in the game. CoLA’s energy carried them through the 2nd half and they ran away with the game.

“I felt like we started the game nervous, but I expected us to be. I think that being a young team, CoLA’s energy overwhelmed us a little bit, however I was pleased with the way we came back early in the second.” said BHASVIC coach James Quinto

He also added “Despite losing the game I was pleased how the players conducted themselves on the court and we were also able to run a few sets on both ends which will benefit us moving forward.”

CoLA had three players in double figures, with 14 points from T Foster and J Okondi while K Woldeyes chipped in 12 points.

BHASVIC were lead by first year Ben Hayward who had 16 points and Joseph Agbara 8 points.

Next week BHASVIC travel to Itchen, while CoLA welcome SEEVIC College.
