BHASVIC vs Itchen College

Itchen used a dominant performance inside to secured an 86-65 road win over BHASVIC on Wednesday.

BHASVIC did their best to stay close throughout the game, only trailing 60-52 at the end of the third quarter and even cutting the deficit down to just four at one point, but in the end, Itchen’s big men were too much to handle inside as they pulled away down the stretch.

Itchen dominated with their two big men, as Matt Hughes exploded for 33 points, whilst Ashley Briggs had 20.

BHASVIC Head Coach James Quinto commented:

“I thought we executed our game plan on the defensive side of the floor for the most part of the game, however we made a few little errors that led to easy baskets for Itchen and also we lack consistency on the defensive side during the latter part of the game which made Itchen run away with the game.

“On top of that, we also couldn’t execute on the offensive end which hurt us towards the end when we really needed to score. It’s still early in the season and the guys know we have a lot of work to do but it was a good game to see where we are at and it just showed again the potential our team has.”

BHASVIC were led by their two captains, Naz Mcloughlin who had 16 points and Enoch Quarcoo who had 13, while Andras Huber contributed with 12 points.

It’s a tough test next week for BHASVIC away from home as they take on the defending champions Barking Abbey and Itchen take on Canterbury, who also won their first game.
