BMET James Watt College vs Loreto College

Loreto recorded their second win of the season with an outstanding display on the road to James Watt College in Birmingham, for a 67-60 victory.

Hasan Ramic had 25 to lead Loreto, Wesley Oba had 14, whilst reigning Player of the Week Arinze Emeka-Anyakwo finished with 12.

James Watt Head Coach Nigel Hanson commented:

“It’s the same as last year with a lot of new guys having to get acclimated to the way we play at both ends of the floor. We are still very much a work in progress and that showed today.”

Up next Loreto play Myerscough, whilst James Watt are on the road to SGS.

George Iliev once again led James Watt with 19 points, David Stevic had 14 and Malange Sonko

The Manchester based team took advantage of poor defensive rotations and turnovers to jump out to an early lead behind the shooting of Hasan Ramic. Loreto would win the first quarter 10 – 18.

The second quarter would be much better for the home side as they began to finish good scoring opportunities themselves behind the offensive play of David Stevic and the tough defence of Lewis Leigh.

However, poor ball handling and passing would be the undoing of James Watt College late in the quarter, as Loreto were handed easy baskets in transition. James Watt would win the quarter by just two points 18 -16 going into the half down by 6.

The third quarter would see Loreto regain control of the game through their for superior perimeter play. The James Watt guards were simply unable to contain Loreto’s penetration leading to a third quarter score of 13 – 22, taking a 15 point lead into the final period.

The fourth quarter would see James Watt rally to bring the game within 7 points behind a makeshift 2 – 3 zone and the Loreto reserves, eventually losing the game 60-67.
