BMET James Watt College vs Myerscough College

Myerscough recorded their third win of the season with an outstanding 62-77 display on the road to James Watt College in Birmingham.

Callan Low had 18 to lead Myerscough, with Edoardo Del Cadia adding 15 and Konrad Kontorski 14.

Daniel Penkov exploded for 30 for James Watt, whilst Georgi Iliev had 12.

The Preston based team took advantage of poor ballhandling and missed shots by the home side to jump out to an early lead behind the scoring of Callan Low. Myerscough would win the first quarter 22-15.

The second quarter would be much better for the home side as they began to finish good scoring opportunities themselves behind the offensive perimeter play of Daniel Penkov and the inside presence of Giorgi Illiev.

However, poor ballhandling and passing would be the undoing of James Watt College late in the quarter as Myerscough were handed easy baskets in transition.

The third quarter would see both teams battle for control of the game but Myerscough’s superior perimeter play would seem then edge the quarter. The James Watt bigs were simply unable to dominate on the inside.

Myerscough would take the third quarter 17 – 19, taking a 9 point lead into the 4th.

The fourth quarter would see James Watt try to rally but continued breakdowns in rotations would see James Watt again lose the quarter by one or two possessions eventually losing the game 62 – 77.

James Watt Head Coach Nigel Hanson commented:

“It’s a disappointing loss but we simply didn’t bring our best game today. Ultimately they are a little bit older and stronger and you could see that today.”

Up next Myerscough to play Derby on the road whilst James Watt are are at home to Charnwood.
