Canterbury High School snapped a 4 game losing streak with a 87-53 victory over BHASVIC in EABL action Wednesday.
A 47-21 first half decided the contest, with a balanced scoring attack from Canterbury leading the way.
“After 4 losses in a row in overtime or the last 5 seconds of a game, it was nice to get a comfortable win today,” said Head Coach Jesse Sazant. “Full credit to the BHASVIC guys who hit some shots in the fourth quarter.”
Back to back threes from Glen Lindsay kept BHASVIC in the game early before a 14-4 run gave Canterbury a 23-10 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was more of the same, with Canterbury forcing turnovers and scoring consistently with all 12 players getting on the scoresheet.
The third quarter was a low scoring affair, with intensity dropping, and Canterbury stretching the lead to 59-30. The fourth quarter was the exact opposite, with BHASVIC hitting 7 threes in the period. Despite this, Canterbury responded with 28 points of their own, giving them the victory.
Tyrese Walters led Canterbury with 20 points, while Mate Okros added 14 and Ollie Dykes and Luke Caulwell had 10 a piece. Glen Lindsay had 13 for BHASVIC with Abudaranan adding 12.
After half term, Canterbury will host Copleston while BHASVIC will host CoLA.
