Canterbury High School vs Harris Academy Beckenham

Harris Academy won their fourth consecutive game, defeating Canterbury 76-68, to move into first place in the EABL South East Conference.

In a game that was close the whole way, an 18-13 fourth quarter for Harris proved the difference. Kavell Bigby-Williams and Myles Laurent-Smart were the keys in the decisive run, scoring 14 of the 18 points in the final quarter.

“We simply didn’t get stops in the second half when we needed to,” said Canterbury Head Coach Jesse Sazant.

“This is the second week in a row where we have been in a position to win a game against a good team and have fallen in the final few minutes. We are improving rapidly but need to actually finish one of these with a win soon.”

Bigby-Williams finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds, supported by Laurent-Smart with 20 and 12 assists, and Oscar Diru with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Canterbury were once again led by Tyler Russell with 28 points. Mitchell Rae added 13 and Dominic Ives with a double-double of 10 points and rebounds.

Canterbury will travel to Hackney next week, while Harris have a week off before hosting Northfleet in two weeks..
