Charnwood College vs Loreto College

Charnwood College Riders took a 76-64 victory over the visiting Loreto College to continue their positive season in the EABL.

The home side took a 14-point advantage after the second quarter and were able to maintain their lead through the second half to seal the victory.

Defensive pressure from Charnwood early in the game allowed them to open a small lead however were unable to further the gap following some poor shooting in the first half.

Loreto were able to stay in touching distance in the second half due to the play of Michael Anumba as he produced some strong play to keep Loreto within a grasp of the game but Charnwood maintained a double digit lead to hang on for the win.

Sesan Russell led the Charnwood College Riders with 19 points alongside a great defensive performance, with Morgan Carter having 15 and Niall Harris with 10. Michael Anumba led Loreto with 20 points as they pushed Charnwood, with Goodall finishing with 11.

Charnwood Coach Navarro commented on the performance; ”We play in a different rhythm and we lasted too many minutes on getting it. Also Michael Anumba has showed his great quality as a player. We should run court in a high speed from the beginning to the end but team is still in its game to improve a lot of things in offence and in defence.”

Next week Charnwood travel to face Derby whilst the game for Loreto is on February 21st against SGS.
