Charnwood College vs Manchester Magic Academy

Charnwood College maintained their undefeated start in the EABL Northern Conference with a 98-56 home win over Manchester Magic Academy.

A solid defensive display in the first quarter opened up a large lead, as the period ended with Charnwood holding a 25-8 advantage. The hosts applied great ball pressure to force turnovers, which allowed some easy scores in transition. The visitors fought back in the second through some quality offence from Malachi Boakye-Yiadom, who led the visitors in scoring with 16 points; of which 12 points came in the second quarter alone.

A flurry of scores from multiple Charnwood players in the third quarter saw the lead extended, as an up-tempo game from the home side produced a class act on the offensive end. The depth of the Charnwood roster was an advantage once again for the home side, who got contributions from all 12 players which allowed them to play up-tempo for the entire 40 minutes.

Niall Harris and Joe Bielak led the way with 18 apiece for the home side, followed by Blaize Sagna who added 13 of his own.

Joe Beilak was impressed with the team performance, commenting, “Today’s game was a great team win for us. We are continuing to improve each week and we are learning to play for each other, which is allowing us to prepare for the later stages of the season. If we continue at the rate we are going, I am really excited to see if we can go all the way.”

Charnwood are next in action on Wednesday 5 December when they face a strong Derby team, while Manchester will hope to regroup when they visit The Sheffield College.
