Charnwood College vs Myerscough College

Myerscough College sealed the West Conference title and number one seed heading into the playoffs with a 76-96 win over Charnwood College in the final game of the regular season on Monday.

Backcourt duo Konrad Kantorski (32 points) and Mate Okros (29 points) exploded to combine for 61 points, as Myerscough won every quarter using their three-point accuracy to seal the victory.

Charnwood Head Coach Angel Navarro commented:

“We are in the most important moment of the season and I feel our players were tired after 5 games played between all of them in last two days. Myerscough rested all weekend and did really well from the beginning to the end.

“Our tendency when we play against score is bad because this is something learned in practice and in games and we don’t have time enough to get it. But we have players with pride and I’m sure we’ll try our best in next playoffs.”

Charnwood lacked poise, and their cause was not helped by big man Hosana Kitenge battling niggling injuries and Sesan Russell being limited by foul trouble.

Russell led Charnwood with 16 points, whilst Kitenge and Morgan Carter added 15-a-piece, and Nial Harris got it done at both ends of the floor on his way to 11 points.

Myerscough now look ahead to a match up with City of London Academy in the opening round of the playoffs, whilst Charnwood prepare to take on Itchen.
