City of London Academy 48 – 83 Barking Abbey

City of London Academy end the EABL season with defeat to conference top dogs Barking Abbey 83-48.

Barking closed out the season with a barrage of three pointers, holding the home team to just 48 points.

The first quarter was fast paced with both teams forcing turnovers, but it was the experienced Barking side who settled down and executed their offence and took advantage of the miscommunications on defence. Captain Chris Feeney buried three of his teams’ four made three point shots in the first quarter.

CoLA fought very hard throughout the game with Toibu Lawal coming to life, crashing the boards but CoLA was still in a big hole at the half with the score 23-48.

The home team continued to fight right until the end with guards Kavell Hawes and Wilfred Santhe both getting into double figures, but it was the prolific shooting from Barking with Feeney and Carmichael leading the way with 21 and 20 points respectively.

Coach Williams said: “I would like to congratulate Coach Vear and his staff for winning the EABL, they have been extremely tough to play against all season with multiple players stepping up at different times.”
