City of London Academy vs Alec Reed Academy

Thursday saw last weeks postponed fixture between CoLA and Alec Reed take place. The first half seemed to be dominated by Alec Reed guard Elais Poorman, however a fightback from CoLA and their full court press left the scores at 41-41 at the half. The second half was a seesaw affair with both Academy’s taking the lead at various points. Patrick Lanipekun attempted to bring some order to the scrappy play whilst Alec Reed guard Moh Adan battled with Tyreese Garrod and Dylan Darbin.

The game was ultimately one that the players would decide. Darbin and Lanipekun made some big shots down the stretch to give CoLA a narrow 2 point lead going into the final 20 seconds. With the game on the line an unfortunate technical for Alec Reed gave CoLA a 3 point lead and with time expiring. Their last ditch effort fell just short and CoLA managed to end their three game losing streak and returned to winning ways.

CoLA were led by Darbin and Lanipekun who both finished with 14 points, with Will White chipping in with 7 points. Adan led Alec Reed with 21 whilst Dovydas Golovcenko supported with 17 points.

Alec Reed return in two weeks to trave lto regining national champs Barking Abbey and CoLA remain at home and will face Oaklands College.
