Copleston High School vs Oaklands College

Copleston got their first win of the EABL season at home with a convincing 102-76 win against a talented Oaklands College team.

Oaklands started the better of the two teams, opening up a nine point lead in a first quarter that was played at a frantic pace by both teams. The Wolves connected on 36 points in the period and looked to have all of the momentum. However, after their hot start the Hertfordshire team seemed to lose their focus as Copleston gained control of the game, winning the final three quarters 75-40.

Copleston were led by the high powered trio of Ben Winter (29), Ethan Price (28), Veron Eze (26), as Price also added 17 rebounds and five blocks to his impressive stat line. Oaklands were paced by the duo of Ope Afolabi (11) and Jose Morais (10).

“I am really pleased with this win. Not only because it gets us off and running this season, but we improved significantly from last week and I thought the boys adjusted well in the game to certain changes that we made. I thought our bench really stepped up and made key plays at both ends of the floor during the period of the game that was the difference maker for us” said Copleston Head Coach Nick Drane.

Copleston are on the road next week as they travel to face John Madejski Academy, while Oaklands will search for their first win of the season away to national champions Barking Abbey.
