County Upper School vs SEEVIC

County Upper climbed to second place in the South East Conference with an 83-48 victory over SEEVIC, who dropped to 0-6 this season.

Despite another solid performance from SEEVIC’s Brad Wood, who finished with 26 points, County Upper steamrolled through the home side, as they improved to 3-1 on the season.

The opening exchanges saw the home side take the initiative, scoring the first seven points and forcing County Upper to take a time out, but their change to a zone defence caused untold difficulties to the inexperienced SEEVIC side.

The visitors had the next six points and although Brad Wood made a three-pointer, the die was certainly cast. Upper had the next five and despite two further Wood scores, a 10-0 run took the Suffolk school 21-14 ahead at the end of the first quarter.

An 11-2 run extended the margin to 16 as SEEVIC, at times, looked like complete strangers to each other. Misdirected passes were snapped up and at half time it was 46-25.

Ten unanswered points at the start of the third period, followed by an 8-2 spell took the margin to 37 and only a late flourish from Wood and Tomi Oye-Bamgbose gave the scoreline any semblance of respectability.

Oye-Bamgbose added 12 for SEEVIC, joining Wood as the only other player in double figures.

SEEVIC will look to re-group when they meet Northfleet Tech next Wednesday, again on their home court..
