County Upper vs Oaklands College

Despite a strong defensive performance from County Upper, they could not match it on the offensive end, as they went down 58-40 to Oaklands College on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was close in the first half with both teams trading baskets, but as County continued to miss easy opportunities Oaklands gradually inched away in the thirrd which helped secure the victory.

“I hate games like this, when you play great defense which allows your team to win the game, but could not buy a basket at the other end,” said County Upper Head Coach Darren Johnson.

“We executed the offence well and held Oaklands to a low score. I’m happy with where we are as a team right now but need to work a lot more on finishing.

“Oaklands played an average game, they shot the ball well from three and out-rebounded us”.

Oaklands were led by 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists from Aidan Gastaldi-Davies, with Kieran Gastaldi-Davies adding 12 points and 6 rebounds, and Reece Turner finishing with 11, 5 and 5.

Jake Andrews led County Upper with 17 points.
