Derby College/Noel Baker School vs Allerton High School

Derby College/Noel Baker School picked up a vital 78-63 victory over Allerton High School in a rare Friday night EABL fixture as both teams battle to make the post season.
Both teams seemed quite close to full strength as Derby saw the Amabilino twins and Callum Singleton return to the line up while Savery-Richards was back in action for the Force.
Derby tried to force the tempo for large parts of the game as they pressed frequently and while occasionally giving up some easy baskets they were able to force several turnovers throughout the first half.
Derby took charge winning the first two quarters 17-12 and 17-11 in a low scoring first half.
The second half was higher scoring as both teams found a little more rhythm. Jake Pandza led the charge for the Force but Adria Amabilino frequently answered for the Blazers. In fact he scored 12 points in a row either side of the third and fourth quarters.
Derby stretched their lead to 21 at one stage but Allerton did make a run and reduced the deficit to 8 early in the fourth. But it would be Derby who claimed the win to move to 4-3 in the West Conference while Allerton slide to 3-6.
Derby were also able to count on some good bench scoring as Singleton and Ptak both reached double figures, with Singleton also collecting 11 rebounds for a double double.
After the game Coach Storer commented:
“We still have a lot of work to do but there were lots of positives to take into next weeks game. Getting a win was important for our confidence and at times we showed we can play some quality basketball.”
Derby were led by Adria Amabilino with 24 points, and Singleton and Brian Amabilino with 11 each.
Jaka Pandza had 20 for Allerton, whilst Micah Savery-Richards finished with 13, and Ogoi 10.
Next up for Derby is a trip to league leaders Charnwood next week while Allerton have to wait 3 weeks before matching up with Loreto.
