Derby Trailblazers Academy vs The Sheffield College

Derby Trailblazers Academy made it back-to-back wins with a 29 point triumph over EABL newcomers The Sheffield College, winning the contest 86-57.

The first quarter was a tight affair with Derby just edging it, 22-18. The home side extended their advantage in the second quarter and had nine scorers on the scoresheet by the interval, as a balanced scoring attack and quick rotations from the bench helped push their lead to 40-27.

All five second half starters scored in the early stages of the third quarter as Derby ended any hopes Sheffield had of making a comeback. Derby’s leading scorer Tzion Essel-Jaji came of the bench and hit from behind the arc, stretching the lead to 55-31. From then on, the game never looked in doubt and although Sheffield battled hard throughout – it was the Trailblazers who claimed the valuable victory.

After the game Coach Shaw commented, “It was a strong performance today but still plenty of areas for the lads to still improve upon. Credit to Sheffield, they made us battle right until the end. I was pleased with our defence in patches and we showed we had a number of guys who can score at this level.”
