Derby Trailblazers 123-45 Newcastle Eagles

Derby moved to 5-1 in the Northern Conference with a convincing win over the Eagles.

The Blazers were able to hold Newcastle scoreless in the opening minutes to take an 11-0 early lead. After an Eagles timeout, the next few minutes were their best moments of the game, they found some nice offensive plays through Nfon and Okuli pulling the game back to single digits at 22-13. However, that would be the closest they’d get. The Blazers went on another run, this time 23 unanswered points through a variety of scorers to blow the game open at 45-13.

Carl Alexander netted a couple of threes during this run, in fact during the second quarter Derby would score 6 triples as a team to help make the half time score 61-19.

The Eagles continued to battle throughout the second half but were not able to match up with the Trailblazers who kept their energy levels high rotating all 12 players. In fact, in the end the Derby bench would out score the starters with a lot of unselfish basketball, Enrique Addu led the bench scoring with a nice inside/outside offensive performance for 17 points while Dejnek Vel Denek also added 17 off the bench to go with his 24 in last weeks win over James Watts.

In the end Derby ran out winners 123-45 to extend their unbeaten run to four games. Next week Derby will host Charnwood College at 2.15 at Derby College Johnson Building. While Newcastle will hope to get their first win when they host Sheffield College.
